Shreveport-Bossier Retriever Club (SVRC)

In the beginning, the primary focus was to have an AKC Hunt Test and Field Trial presence in the Shreveport/Bossier City area. Most of these initial members became involved out of a love for hunting with their dogs and a desire to train them to a higher standard.

As the club grew, it became a place for people with like interests to socialize and enjoy activities with the dogs that were such a large part of their lives. Today’s club still embodies many of the beliefs the original club was founded on, however we have grown to encompass a much more diverse group. Members still compete in AKC Hunt Tests and Field Trials, as well as Conformation and Obedience. We have therapy dogs, duck dogs, bird dogs, and welcome any other types.

One thing has remained the same over the years, the membership of this club is comprised of individuals who love their dogs and treat them as family members. No matter what your interest or skill level of your dog, if you are a “dog person” and enjoy associating with others like you, we welcome you to come check us out. We currently hold quarterly meetings, training days, holiday parties, AKC Hunt Tests, and AKC Field Trials.
