Frequently Asked Questions
How are the Labrador Retriever standings calculated?
Our official standings are calculated based on AKC (American Kennel Club) Master National Qualifier Grounds statistics. Labradors earn points by defeating other dogs in Master National Qualifier Grounds. The more dogs a Labrador defeats at a recognized show, the more points they accumulate toward their national ranking.
What is the difference between Breed and All-Breed standings?
“Breed” points are earned exclusively by defeating other Labrador Retrievers at the breed level (such as winning Best of Breed). “All-Breed” points are accumulated when a Labrador advances to win at the Sporting Group level or wins Best In Show (BIS). All-Breed standings award points for every dog of any breed they defeat at that entire event.
How often are the top Labrador rankings updated?
The breed standings on The Labrador Directory are updated continuously as new dog show statistics are published and processed by official scorekeepers like Canine Chronicle. You can always check the “List as of” date at the top of our standings board to see the most recent event data included in the current rankings.
Why are there sometimes multiple dogs tied for the same rank?
When two or more Labradors accumulate the exact same number of points, they are awarded a tied rank (for example, two dogs tied for 6th place). In accordance with standard dog show tournament ranking rules, the subsequent rank is skipped, making the next dog in line 8th place.
How can I claim my ranked Labrador’s profile?
If your Labrador has made the national top standings, congratulations! You can claim their placement by clicking the “+ Add My Dog” button next to their name. This allows you to build a dedicated stud or female profile page, showcase their pedigree, upload photos, and connect with breeders directly on The Labrador Directory.
